We have signed a contract with the Asian Development Bank to assist the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India in implementing the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM). Activities focus on facilitating state-level implementation of the NUHM in 5 states: Assam, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, West Bengal.
The project is targeting the urban poor population and directs its efforts towards 3 major intervention areas: (1) strengthening the urban public health centres delivery system, (2) increasing the quality of services, and (3) improving the capacity of health personnel, knowledge sharing mechanisms and the promotion of innovative urban health models.
The team is composed of 16 persons, working intermittently (experts in: public health, community mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, financial management, etc.). The Team Leader, as an almost full time expert, is based in New Delhi and regularly traveling to the project states.
