The Republic of Uzbekistan has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the South Karakalpakstan Water Resources Management Improvement Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.
The consulting services include institutional strengthening capacities of local water resource management institutions in the Project area under the South Karakalpakstan Water Resources Management Improvement Project. Estimated professional staff-months is 472. Consulting services performance period is expected for the period from 2020 till 2021.
The main objectives of the services are:
A. Institutional strengthening capacities of local water resource management institutions, including Amu Darya BVO, Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Karakalpakstan (MWR of RKK), District Departments of Irrigation (DDI), Meliorative Expedition (ME) under MWR of RKK and Water Consumers Association (WCA)s, through training;
B. Crop Intensification and Diversification through (i) capacity strengthening of selected farmers and WCAs through demonstrations, Farmers Field Schools (FFS), and provision of training;
C. Communication, outreach campaigns and gender;
D. Measures to support the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in project management.
