| Technical assistance in support of the promotion and development of new tools for agricultural statistics (2017-2019) |
The objective of the technical assistance to the Department of Strategy and Statistics (DSS) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries is to support the promotion and development of the agricultural statistics system in Morocco. The project will enable the development and design of two systems for processing agricultural statistical data: (i) an operating system for the National Agricultural Register; (ii) an information system for accountancy data on agricultural holdings. It will also act as a communication channel for the EU’s AGRI 2 programme. |

Preparation of Engineering Feasibility Studies for a Solar PV Plant (2MW) and Wind Turbines (2MW) and Technical Assistance to Al Yamoun (JSCJWV) (2020-2022) |
The feasibility studies for a Solar PV Plant (2 MW) and Wind Turbines (2 MW) for JSCJWV in Al Yamoun are part of the Nexus North Project. This Nexus North project intends to continue AFD’s support in the implementation of institutional reforms in the water sector and enhance the sustainability of regional operators in Palestinian territories.The previous AFD funded projects were mainly focused on urgent and priority needs. Additional support needs have been identified in order to continue efforts to enable operators to become fully operational and sustainable, including the reduction of their energy cost for the provision of water services. The Al Yamoun site has been identified for its wind and solar potential. The objectives of the services for Al Yamoun is to conduct a full feasibility study for both wind and solar options, including technical, economic, financial, environmental and social aspects. It includes the supply and installation of a wind measurement mast, as well as solar measurement equipment, which are both to be used to collect data for a year. The Consultant also prepares the tender documents for the EPC contract. |

Technical assistance to the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) - Renewable energy planning (2021-2022) |
The objective of this technical assistance is to enhance the NREA Strategic Department’s efficiency by building its capacities, providing coaching and transferring energy planning know-how through the development of an energy modelling platform, fed with studies and renewable energy scenarios developed during the technical assistance. In order to achieve this objective, AFD alongside the NREA, has identified a set of activities requiring consultancy services. The Consultant is expected to evaluate the energy planning capacities within the NREA and in Egypt, identify energy scenarios relevant to the NREA, develop an energy modelling platform containing pre-identified scenarios, identify a financing strategy based on the international best practices and energy markets scenarios and coach the NREA’s energy planning team on the further development of the aforementioned topics. |

The results are based on the following components: - Evaluation of demand for sanitation from the populations concerned; - Evaluation of collective and individual sanitation systems existing in the country; - Proposal of diagnosis methods, technical solutions and actions to promote adapted systems applicable to the country's different zones; - Proposal of institutional and regulatory improvements for the management of the sanitation sector; - Proposal of communication and training action. |

Support to the Agricultural Small and Medium Enterprises Project (SASME) (2017-2021) |
The Consultant is providing global project management support for the SASME project, assisting the National Project Coordination Unit (NPCU) in the overall management and coordination of the activities of the SASME Project. The objective of this project is to improve access to finance for agricultural SMEs via the Agricultural Development Programme (MALR credit fund body) by: - increasing Agricultural Development Programme lending through the creation of an additional fund dedicated to SMEs; - providing technical assistance to key stakeholders in agricultural finance; - increasing SME absorption capacity by establishing an agricultural credit guarantee scheme; - improving the productive efficiency of the dairy sector and marine aquaculture sector and the efficient use of the resources allocated to them; - addressing cross-cutting issues. |
