Technical assistance to the Ministry of the Environment and Forest Resources (MERF), attached to the PNADE National Coordination Body as technical advisor, for the fulfilment of the project.
Capacity building for the implementation of concrete environmental protection actions identified by the populations themselves at local level, creating and strengthening the populations' confidence in decentralisation and local governance processes in general.

Support for the implementation of the environmental and social component of the High-Priority Roads Reopening and Maintenance Project (Pro-Routes) (2010-2013)
Implementation of component 3 of the Pro-Routes programme which plans to support public institutions such as the Congolese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN) and the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Tourism (MECNT) in the protection of natural habitats, biodiversity and forests, and in the enforcement of the corresponding laws. This component aims to promote the participative planning of land use, community management and local initiatives for income diversification.

Establishment of mining cadastre, inspectorate, audit and licensing functions within the Ministry of Mines (2008-2011)
The Afghanistan Ministry of Mines is being restructured to perform essential advisory, regulatory, facilitating and promotional functions related to the mining and hydrocarbon sectors.
Our consortium is working on:
- establishment and operational support to the Cadastre Department which will be responsible for the issuing and management of mining and hydrocarbon licences and contracts;
- establishment and capacity building of the Inspectorate Department with responsibility for monitoring and maintaining technical, safety and elements of the financial standards of mining operations.

Technical assistance for the environmental and social management of the Emergency Urban and Social Rehabilitation Project (PURUS) (2009-2011)
The technical assistance for the environmental and social management of the PURUS relates to three components: the “water” component, with the set-up of mitigation measures and the corresponding control structures, the “urban roads” component, involving supervision of the environmental and social management of the urban road rehabilitation, and finally, a cross-cutting component covering information, consultation of civil society, awareness raising and capacity building. The final objective is to enable the different institutions concerned by the project to gain the skills and operational procedures necessary for good environmental and social management.

Setting up of an environmental monitoring and evaluation mechanism of sub-projects financed by the second credit line granted by the AfDB to the BNDA (2009-2010)
The project aims to set up, through the institutional support to the BNDA, an environmental monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the sub-projects financed by the credit line. The Consultant in charge of this work ensures that the specifications for the importation of pesticides and other strategic inputs at the level of the BNDA are respected, as well as the management of the environmental impact of all the activities in conformity with the national environmental directives and those of the AfDB.

Baseline study for the operationalization of the Niger Basin Observatory (NBO) (2009-2010)
The objective of the study is to go deeper into and specify the conditions necessary to make the NBO operational in terms of development planning and the creation of monitoring & evaluation (ME) and environmental monitoring tools. The specific objectives of the study focus on:
1. The development of ME and environmental monitoring tools for the Niger basin;
2. The preparation of a development plan for the NBO.

Environmental and social evaluation of the Emergency Multi-Sector Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Project (EMRRP) (2003-2010)
Supervision of the application of the World Bank’s safeguard policies in all of the EMRRP projects and setting up of an organisation capable, in time, of taking charge of the environmental management of projects implemented in the DRC. The EMRRP covers 7 provinces and targets the rehabilitation of essential infrastructure (1500 km of roads, 200 km of track roads, water treatment plants, hydroelectric and thermal power plants), the restoration of basic social services (schools, health centres …), and the revival of plant and animal production.
