The overall objective of the project is to identify potential support areas that EU and EU Member States could provide to the Ethiopian government on the WTO accession and on the implementation of the AfCFTA. The project shall lead to the identification of: 1. Needs/priorities for Ethiopia to complete the WTO accession and implement the AfCFTA, in particular: 2. Potential interventions where the EU and EU Member State Embassies or Agencies could have a comparative advantage in supporting the government in pursuing the WTO accession and the implementation of the AfCFTA, including by strengthening cooperation between different government agencies. |

Technical assistance to support and strengthen artisanal fishermen groups in the province of Zambezia. Promotion of saving-and-loan groups and community-based, small-scale fishers' organisations in growth poles in the province of Zambezia: Pebane, Nicoaldala, Namacura, Quelimane and Chinde. The initial objective is to support 325 fishers’ communities, representing more than 6500 members and 32500 indirect beneficiaries in the 5 above-mentioned districts. |

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Resettlement Action Plan of the Ruzizi III HEPP Project (2020-2021) |
SOFRECO provided expertise for the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the construction of the Ruzizi III 147 MW hydropower plant, the third hydroelectric development on the Ruzizi River involving Rwanda, DR Congo and Burundi. The team of experts assessed and predicted potential adverse social and environmental impacts of the project, and developed suitable mitigation measures in consultation with stakeholders, in particular with Persons Affected by the Project (PAPs). |
| Asset valuation, business valuation and due diligence of the state-owned company Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise (ESLSE) (2015-2017) |
The Support and Study Office for ESLSE with Ethiopia's Ministry of Transport, asked SOFRECO to carry out the asset valuation, business valuation and due diligence of the state-owned “Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise” (ESLSE). This assignment was part of the Ethiopian government's strategy to open some sectors of activity up to foreign investment. All the merchant vessels of ESLSE fleet (comprising 9 multi-purpose and 2 tank vessels) were inspected for valuation. Asset valuation was also performed for the rolling stock (including 440 trucks), the lifting and handling equipment, the Addis Ababa offices, the dry ports buildings and warehouses and for the ESLSE buildings in Djibouti. |
| Study on taxation policy and collection systems for taxes, fees and service charges on urban and land properties (2022-2023) |
The main objective of the mission is to support the Malagasy Ministry of Economy and Finance in the mobilisation of fiscal and parafiscal revenues for the benefit of the State and decentralised local authorities by providing an in-depth study on the taxation and collection systems of taxes, levies and service charges on urban and land properties (urban and rural) and to prevent money laundering. |
| Consultancy for the identification of alternative livelihoods under FishCC (2018) |
FishCC is a climate change adaptation project with a focus on natural resources and capacity building for poverty reduction. The overall objective of the FishCC project is to improve community management of selected priority fisheries. This consultancy assignment under FishCC aims to identify sustainable livelihood alternatives to fishing activities in five pilot areas, with the following activities: i) identification and formulation of sub-projects in aquaculture, tourism and agriculture, among others, for sustainable income generation in five pilot areas; ii) preparation of the Sub-Projects Implementation Manual including the financing process; iii) identification of potential business partners; iv) facilitation of the establishment of partnerships between identified business partners and targeted communities. |
| Training sessions in the mining sector - Institutional Capacity Building Project for Government Effectiveness (2017-2018) |
The objective of this project is to build the capacity of MEM agents through training sessions tailored to the identified needs. This involves analysing the training needs, developing training modules adapted to these needs and carrying out the training. The ToR also specify that recommendations must be made in terms of continuing training and curricula reform. |
