Study for the design of a sustainable waste electrical and electronic equipment managing and processing system (WEEE/e-waste) in Mauritius (2016-2017) |
Study for the design of a waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) management system in Mauritius to assist the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mauritius to set up an operational system in the short-term. A strategic analysis was carried out to determine the optimal management model, which then led to a detailed feasibility study of the proposed system at technical, organisational, institutional and financial levels. The extension of the study involved technical assistance to MCCI for the improvement of the legal system, the management contract for the operation of the system, and the establishment of a financial contribution for importers of equipment to finance the system through application of the extended producers’ responsibility principle. |
| Technical audit services for the Lusaka low voltage distribution network (2019-2023) |
The Lusaka Transmission Distribution Rehabilitation Project intends to achieve the capacity reinforcement and expansion of the entire Lusaka HV-MV network (from 132kV down to 33kV and 11kV distribution lines) with associated bulk power substations and transformers. The purpose of the technical audit services is to provide factual, regular reporting and advice to ensure the project has been implemented in accordance with the laid down contractual and technical specifications and requirements. Specifically, it aims to verify and control the organisational, technical, contractual and financial aspects of the project and the results achieved during its implementation. |
| Monitoring and Evaluation of the New Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP) for the season 2020-2021 (2020-2022) |
The objective of the assignment is to assess, via phased M&E, the overall value for money of investments in the new Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP, intended to benefit all smallholder farmers - circa 4.2 million) during the 2020/2021 cropping season in terms of the contribution to agricultural production and food security in Malawi. The M&E assesses the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of AIP 2020/2021, and provides information to the Donor Committee in Agriculture and Food Security (DCAFS) and recommendations to the new Government administration on how best to design, fund and implement future agriculture subsidy programmes for optimal impact. |
| Mid-Term Review of the Afikepo and Kulima Programmes (2020-2021) |
Evaluation of the intermediate results of the Afikepo programme (€74.55 m), which seeks to enhance nutrition security by 1) increasing and diversifying dietary intake of safe and nutritious foods, and 2) increasing the use of enhanced nutrition knowledge and awareness and hygiene practices, and of the Kulima programme (€111 m), which seeks “Sustainable agricultural growth promoted” through 1) increased agricultural productivity and diversified production, 2) the development or establishment of agricultural value chains and employment opportunities, and 3) strengthened agriculture sector governance. |
| Design, implementation and promotion of agroforestry systems in the province of Cabo Delgado (2018-2022) |
This assignment aims to develop agroforestry systems (AFS) for farmers. The idea is to support them in developing agronomic solutions linked with forestry production to make their crop cultivation more sustainable. The target is to reach 1500 ha to be planted by 1500 growers with different tree species (fruit trees, trees for charcoal production, etc.) to improve the sustainability of their cropping strategy. A voucher system will be put in place to help the farmers to finance the seedlings, prepare the soil, etc. |
| Final evaluation of the 'Support for the semi-industrial processing of sugar cane' project (2020) |
The objective of this mission was to evaluate the achievement of the objectively verifiable indicators and the quality of the results: contribution to the impact, effects, results and outcomes of the actions led in the framework of the AMS 2013, Result 1. The analysis also aimed to: i) capitalise on lessons learned and good practices; ii) identify strengths and possible constraints encountered in implementation and formulate recommendations that could improve present and future EU-funded actions; and iii) provide explanations of the cause-effect relationships between the inputs and activities and the outputs, results and impacts. |

Technical assistance to the Trade Capacity Building Project (PRCC) in Burundi’s Tea Value Chain (2013-2015) |
The project's purpose is to strengthen the Burundi Tea Authority (OTB) in order to enhance and improve the production, quality and sales of Burundi tea. The project's objectives are to: - support the OTB in the implementation of a quality approach from the field to the client, with a view to obtaining the certification of at least two pilot factories; - contribute to improving the OTB’s trade practices to secure its sales and access more profitable markets; - strengthen the actors of the tea value chain so that they can play their role with regard to the liberalisation/privatisation developments underway. |
