| Community Support Operator for the Irrigation Development Support Project (IDSP) (2012-2017) |
The objective of the IDSP is to increase yields per hectare and the value of diverse products marketed by smallholders benefiting from investments in irrigation in selected sites served by the project. These sites are located in Lusitu, Mwomboshi and Musakashi. The project interventions will consist of a four-tier system which will be applied, in whole or in part, at each of the irrigation sites to be developed: - Tier 1 is for smallholder farmers who wish to take up irrigated agriculture using mainly family labour. - Tier 2 consists of larger plots of between one and five hectares, for cultivation by emerging small-scale commercial farmers or small groups of farmers, under sprinkler irrigation systems. - Tier 3 consists of large plots of at least 60 ha under centre-pivot irrigation operated by a private company, or FarmCo. - Tier 4 consists entirely of existing large-scale commercial farmers who will share the bulk water and other infrastructure provided under the project. |
| Support to SE4ALL Country Action processes in Zambia and Cameroon (2015-2016) |
The objective of this project was to support the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water of Zambia and the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Cameroon in the implementation of the SE4All Initiative in Zambia and Cameroon, and in particular with the formulation of Action Agendas (AAs) and Investment Prospectuses (IPs) for both countries. The services also included political advocacy, the identification of investment and PPP opportunities and capacity building. |
| Feasibility and engineering study of the Finchaa sugar factory and ethanol plant expansion project (2004-2005) |
Feasibility and engineering studies for the expansion of the Finchaa Sugar Factory from its current capacity of 4,000 TC per day (85,000 T sugar per year) and 450 hl of ethanol per day to the maximum capacity possible after bringing the east bank of the Finchaa River into production (7000 ha cane under irrigation) (10,000 TC per day extensible to 12,000 per day and 1050 hl of alcohol per day). |
| Public Expenditure Review in the Education Sector in Namibia and Support to financial management functions and budget preparation (2010-2011) |
The objectives of this mission were to: 1.) Support national authorities with the undertaking of the Public Expenditure Review (PER) in the education sector through a pilot exercise. 2.) Strengthen the budget preparation and budgetary allocation processes of the Ministry of Education in line with the findings of the systems institutional analysis, the capacity building needs analysis and the recommendations emanating from the PER. 3.) Initiate all preparatory work required to launch a public expenditure tracking survey meant to take place in 2011 to inform the budget preparation process for 2012-2013. |

The objective of this technical assistance to EGL is to build its institutional, organisational, technical, human and physical capacities, and to build the competence of energy sector experts in the following fields: updating of the Regional Energy Master Plan; harmonisation of norms and standards; adoption of funding, implementation and monitoring procedures for studies and projects; harmonisation of environmental assessment practices in the sub-region of the CEPGL (Great Lakes Economic Community); consolidation of the information and communication system, and institutional and organisational capacity building of EGL. |

Technical Assistance to the African Union Commission for the African Energy Policy Agenda (hydropower 2020), Capacity Building Actions and Strategy for the Development of the Inga Hydropower Site (2011-2012) |
Within the framework of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership, a number of priority infrastructure projects have been identified, including the development of hydropower in Africa, particularly from the Inga basin in the DRC. The project aims to support the African Union Commission (AUC) in policy matters within the framework of the 2020 Hydropower Initiative, through institution- and policy-related assistance to the AUC, and the preparation and promotion of the development of the Inga III and Grand Inga projects. |
